We were going for a cartoon-like look for the tree. To cover all the gaps in the layers and all the other imperfections from the sanding and give it a smoother look, we decided to coat the canopy with a layer of dry wall mud and then sand it smooth. This shows the tree after the mudding, sanding and a coat of paint.
